About

Jenna Brixius is a professional flutist, music educator, and certified Alexander Technique teacher based in New York City. A passionate teacher, Jenna has dedicated her career to helping individuals actualize their fullest potential in the arts, wellness focused fitness, and daily living.

Since establishing her vibrant music lesson studio in 2011, Jenna has guided the progress of hundreds of students in one-on-one sessions and music programs around the country. In addition to teaching Alexander Technique focused lessons and workshops, she is currently on the part-time music faculty at Mannes Prep (Mannes School of Music’s Preparatory Department), Village Community School, and The Clinton School - Manhattan Youth. Jenna has taught as interim flute faculty at the Mannes Prep, led flute, chamber music, and wellness classes at the Querflöte Musikkurswochen in Switzerland, and completed an Alexander Technique teaching internship at the acclaimed Meadowmount School of Music. As a flutist, she has performed with the Palm Beach Symphony, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and the Florida Wind Symphony, in addition to freelance performances with the Legend of Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses Orchestra and a special chamber orchestra concert accompanying the legendary Stevie Wonder.

Her ultimate goal is to help her students discover how to move with presence, joy, and stability. Sessions with Jenna explore foundational lessons in movement, body mapping, breathing, and sound production in speech and song, as well as nurturing important life skills like problem solving, attention and focus development, self-expression, and long-term planning.

Many of Jenna's past and present students are active performers, software engineers, music therapists, doctors, teachers, paralegals, and college students. Her music studio alumni have been accepted into competitive music degree programs, including Eastman School of Music, University of Michigan, Florida State University, and Indiana University. Jenna received her Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory as a student of Michel Debost, former principal flute of the Orchestre de Paris.

Jenna enjoys working with individuals and groups of all ages and backgrounds. Whether Alexander Technique lessons are to support your technical development in a craft or navigate pain and discomfort, Jenna is willing to meet you wherever you are with compassion and support.
